The St. Matthew’s School Board of Trustees has adapted a new mission statement that better emphasizes our vision to address our academic and spiritual goals today. Reflecting on the adage of “not putting off until tomorrow what you can do today,” this mission statement supports our desire to build on the talents, skills and goals of St. Matthew’s School each day to have a better tomorrow for our children.
 Hence, our new mission statement:

“A Christian community committed to academic excellence and spiritual growth for our children today”

Philosophy:

All students deserve the encouragement and opportunity to gain the skills and values that will enable them to become responsible, caring and trustworthy citizens.

About Our School:

St. Matthew’s Episcopal School is here to meet the academic needs of children ages 3 years old through the sixth grade. We are devoted to nurturing our students and providing a safe and loving environment for them to grow and learn.
We begin each school day with great joy in morning Chapel service. During our time in Chapel we hear Bible stories from our Rector, we sing and dance. Our goal is for our students to know and feel God’s love for them and share that love with others.

We are blessed with great teachers who have a passion for teaching and reinforcing our mission. The children are taught Reading, Language Arts, Phonics, Spelling, Math, Science and Social Studies. We have an Art program, Music program and a full time Physical Education program. All subjects cover and expand on the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). Each year our students, in grades first- sixth, participate in a school wide and district wide Science Fair. Our students have the opportunity to be involved in UIL, Track and Field, Environmental Stewardship, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. We have an extended day program that is licensed by the state of Texas and under the direction of a qualified and certified director.

We are  very proud to be accredited by Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES), and all that St. Matthew’s Episcopal School has to offer our community.  We invite you to come by for a tour of our school.
