Pre K 3 Program
St. Matthew’s Episcopal School is pleased to announce the restructure and implementation of a full day Pre K-3 program. Service provided by this addition are listed below.
Pre K-3 instruction is an integral part of a three year old’s developmental life. The delivery of the curriculum, Frog Street Press, is provided from early morning to midday. This curriculum reinforces the development and enhancement of the following skills: Personal and Social Development, School Work Habits, Language Development, Fine and Gross Muscle Development, and Instruction in Music, Science, Art, and Social Studies.
While delivery of the core curriculum is presented the first half of the day, and parents continue to have the opportunity to pick up their children at noon, it is essential that you keep in mind that a full day of instruction ending at 3:30 in the afternoon is provided. From 12:00 – 3:00, students remain in their Pre- K 3 classroom under the care of a very well trained teacher aid and participate in activities such as: Arts and Crafts, Puzzles, Kitchen Time, Story Time, Connect the Letters, Dress Up, Sponge Block, Card Games, and Pegs by Numbers. A multitude of concepts are available for them to learn from as they participate in story time such as: Involvement in the story, Recognizing setting, Comprehension of the story, Attention to detail, Recognizing similarities and differences, Familiarization of characters and their traits. Each activity provided during this time continues to promote and reinforce creativity in children as well as stimulation of the brain. Students also receive restroom and snack breaks.
No matter what time of the day it is, our revised Pre K-3 program provides for a more individualized learning atmosphere while, at the same time, maintaining a commitment to spiritual growth.
Although the Pre K 3 program is a full week- full day program, the opportunity for children to be enrolled for less than the 5 days of the week is available. All fees will remain the same with no exceptions, and the tuition will not be prorated.
